I am back with another caravan and hopefully changing the car but getting all confused but it doesnt take much! I am looking at gettting an Audi A4 2.0 TDI Quattro and the unladen weight is 1595kg but in the book it says the mas trailer load at 8% is 1900, the unladen weight of caravan is 1217kg so wondering if this isnt a good match, be grateful for any advice, thanks

try the whattowcar site and choose 'outfit matching' it usually gives you a good clear indication of how you can expect the vehicle to perform. :)

1900kg on an 8% hill is the max weight the car is technically capable of towing but it does not mean that is a sensible weight to actually tow. If your caravan has unladen weight of 1217kg then it probably has max weight of around 1400kg so a reasonable match for your car.

Well if you get the Quattro, you will at least be able to watch wheeler dealers on sky, and see what Edd China had to do to fix one up

My previous tow car was an A4 2.0TDI Diesel. Really economical getting over 32mpg towing although mine wasn't a Quattro. We towed a 1275 Bailey which was a bit too heavy but it coped quite well.
