hi

I have an alko hitch on my caravan and the extended alko tow ball on my car. My friend has asked me to move a caravan for him, his caravan hitch is th eolder type, will my tow ball be ok.

Yes it will as it is 50mm. diameter the same for all ball hitches but the problem is that you will need to grease your towball to tow a non Alko hitch so you will have to use a grease cleaner and remove any remaining grease off your towball afterwards otherwise it will contaminate the interior friction pads in your Alko hitch.

The two differences between an Alko towball and a standard towball are the extended neck and the extra clearance below the towball itself. The clearance underneath is to allow the Alko hitch to swivel sideways such as if you go over a speed bump and the car goes one way and the caravan the other for example.
