Hi everybody, would someone be kind enough to give me some advice about the Hyundai Tucson.
We currently have Ford cmax 2.0tdci ghia 1544kg according to parkers pulling a swift charisma 560 1400kg MTPLM. The car pulls no problems and seems very stable although i've not towed in any adverse weather yet. I am new to towing this year and realise its probably over the 85% guideline but i've been pretty sensible loading the van. The only thing i've noticed so far is the c max loathes reversing it, and i've read the clutches and fly wheels are pretty fragile. Just wondered about changing to something maybe more suitable ie hyundai tucson. 4WD or 2WD....auto or manual, is it worth consideration over the c max? what are the pros and cons?
thanks in advance.

To get rid of clutch worries reversing go Auto, when you have you will never want to go back to manual for towing.

Agree RE your clutch comments. We have an 05 Focus CMax 2.0 Ghia TDCi, it hates reverse. The clutch smells terribly, to the extent I now avoid reversing at all costs. Sadly, I can't afford as yet to replace it, so I'm just hoping the clutch lasts a couple more years.

Got to say its not just a matter of 'ok lets simply swap vehicles' We only bought the Cmax in October last year. Its lovely car don't get me wrong just not sure if its going to last when i'm manouvering the van on uneven sites. Wondering if auto is the way forward?

If you don't want to swap it yet get a mover, they are cheaper than clutches nowadays, with several on the market under £500.I have been caravanning 40 years and before i changed to Auto every motor, if you do enough shunting, especially uphill smelt to some degree, even the Disco.

Cheers for that bird man, we have actually got a mover on it so i'll have to start using it more often. We've only been out twice in the van so far so still getting used to everything. Second time the pitch was flat and sort of hardcore rock so reversed it on quick with minimum fuss. You know what its like, its just i find the reversing easy, shame the car doesn't. Think we'll stick with it for now though, use the mover more and go for a Tucson auto when the time comes.
