hi we have a honda crv 55 plate but it now has 100,000 on the clock still a cracking car but as hubby has just retired we were looking to change it.The hondas are well out of our price range but someone has told us about the kia sportage ,has anyone had one as a towcar just wondering what they are like we are towing a fleetwood fully laden and with motor mover it weighs 1375 kgs any one got any advice ,I know the best place to ask is on here as you guys have given some good advice before thanks
just picked one up today not brand new but we love it gonna take the van out for a spin soon as i can but with 1800kg towing it should pull ours with ease
We have an 08 sportage 2litre crdi diesel . We tow a Lunar Clubman which weighs 1500 kg loaded. We have had the car from new and as well as local trips we go to France twice a year. The car has no problem towing our van,we get about 24mpg towing and about 31mpg on local driving.
Any question please ask.
We were looking at a 2nd hand sportage but whattowcar.com didn't give us a very good match. We happened on the new Vauxhall Antara, and with all the deals were able to get a brand new one with lifetime warranty for around the same as a 2nd hand sportage.
The Antara tows like a dream, we get 25-30mpg towing, depending on the headwind, and 40mpg on solo driving
In 2010 we test drove a Sportage but rear visibility is not very good especially compared to the CR V, if you go for the Sportage 2ltr diesel it is only available with 4 wheel drive, the Hyundai ix 35 2 ltr diesel is availble in both 2 and 4 wheel drive. We bought an 2010ex demo CR V iDTEC and are very pleased with it. Get around 24-26 mpg when towing, a van with MPTLM of 1500kgs,downside is that being an auto box tow limit is 1500kgs compared to 2000kgs for a manual.
Hi we have just seen the kia sportage its a 2.0 ltr crdi diesel its only got 48000 on the clock so we have decided to test drive when it comes in we did a towsafe match and that was fine .The honda has been a great car but it was a reps car before we bought it and it had 75000 on the clock then its done 130000 so we did look at other hondas but we were looking at the same reg 2005 with around 77000 on clock for more money than the kia they have give us a good trade in price for the honda so when it comes in in 2 weeks we are going to have a test drive . Hond crv has been brilliant but it did cost us £1200 when the clutch went on the motorway so with its age and mileage thought it might be a good time for a change fingers crossed its the car for us
I would guess it's the older shape then as we have. Provided it has been properly serviced along the way, then I think it would still have the balance of the 7 year (our 2006 model only had 3 year warranty - the 2009 that we now have has 7 years).
Assume it's a diesel? In which case as I say, we've nothing but praise for it both solo and towing.
Thanks paul we love the crv we have now but its clocking 130000 miles so the time has come for us to change but they are way to expensive we would have to get one with high mileage on which would defeat the object. The sportage is a one owner car that has been serviced every year by the dealer so it sounds like a good car .The guy said the chap who is trading it is getting a Sorrento as his wife has got a horse and he need to tow that and the sportage is not heavy enough .It has a private plate but is a 2008 model diesel so hopefully it will be worth taking a test drive.
