Can anyone suggest a mirror which I can attach to my Mitsubishi L200? I currently have a set which straps around the car mirrors, but in windy conditions or when large vehicles pass in the opposite direction, the car mirrors fold back. Is there a product which will provide more resistance to this?

Milenco aero mirrors Or Grand aero mirrors which i use on my CRV They wont move
You buy them most any caravan accessory stockists just Google for them

Hi Shaun we use towsure Rock steady towing Mirrors, they attach with both clamps like the Aero mirrors and also rubber straps, they dont move at all once fitted see picture of mirrors.

Second that as we used them on a our Jeep and they are rock steady and offer excellent vision.

I may be wrong, in which case I apologise, but I thought the problem was with the car's own mirrors, so that the whole lot folds back.
Could you please clarify?

Thanks everybody, but jim is correct. The problem is my car mirrors (electricallyf folding) they fold in every time I attach any extension mirror to them.
I've had a look at the usual online shops, but cannot find anything in the uk, which would add support to the car mirrors, and therefore stop them folding against the side windows.

Cant you make something. Should be simple. Perhaps something solid straped around the mirror and mirror strut.

I would think either gaffer tape or some kind of diagonal brace down to the front wing. A bit difficult to do it neatly. Maybe if you take the glass out of the original mirror you might be able to get a bit of tape over the mechanism.
Best thing I can think of is to run a short length of tape down the vertical crack where it folds.

Of course it won't fold at all, but you can redo the tape each trip.

Sounds like it may be a problem with the L200 mirror mechanisms. I have not had this problem with my ASX, and I would assume they are very similar if not the same. Worth checking with your local Mitsu dealer

Is there a sensor in the mirrors that might be causing this, or could they simply be folding due to force of slipstream?

The DfT regulations for towing mirrors is quite specific.

They require that visibility extends rearwards, and parallel to the caravan sides, for something like 20 metres behind the driver. One way to be sure of this is being able to see the vertical awning rails at the rear end of the van.
It is also required that they protrude no more than 200 cms beyond each side of the caravan width, and this requirement applies to any mirror where its bottom edge is less than 2 metres above the road surface when laden.

While on holiday there was a Volvo with tow mirrors fitted to the bonnet and wheel arch rather than the door mirrors. It may be worth having a search for some of those if you are having problems with your door mirrors folding back and your dealer cannot find a problem with them.

We recently saw these on a Dutch-registered car whilst in France.
The upper securing bracket fits over the front wing, in the gap between the bonnet and the wing. Many modern cars, including my Touran, are so closely assembled that this gap is too narrow. There is also the chance, depending on make of car, that the cross-section of the wing/bonnet assembly will not accept location of this bracket.

I used to have a pair of these on our Renault 20TS years ago. They were brilliant, and quite rigid too. Also I had fitted to both assemblies electrically adjustable mirror heads with the controls on the centre console. However, these days, I believe these types of towing mirror are not legal, as according to one of the caravan programmes I saw recently, they do not satisfy the regulation which states that towing mirrors have to be adjustable from inside the car (well, I assume that means the driver's side unless the driver has 6 ft arms - lol!)
