If I hire my caravan out (not a static) and the customer steals it what happens? Is there a specialist insurance I can take out as a hirer, just in case?

You would need to take out special Insurance anyway as a hirer, your standard Ins will not cover this.

I suspect that if you hire out your van you will need  gas and electrical safety  cerificates + PAT tests on any portable electrical equipment supplied with the van, eg electric kettle. This certainly applies if static vans are hired

The issue will be what checks can you make to ensure the people that hire it are genuine.

Can you spot a fake licence or utility bill?

Do you accept credit card payments?

Hire to people you know. Otherwise i think your going to struggle to earn any money.

Thanks for your advice, got all the pat tests and certificates sorted just need reputable insurance for comp. cover in case the renters are thieves, accidental, etc. Easy to google but recommendation is always best I think so if anyone out there has used a reputable company I'd be interested to know.
