I have just fitted an Anker towbar to my Peugeot 306 Estate and I am finishing off a refurb of a second hand trailer to allow us to go camping in a couple of weeks time.

I have never towed before and my question is do I need to grease the tow ball - seams to make sense that I should but I just don't know.

Many thanks,
Stephen

If it's a standard hitch that doesn't incorporate a stabiliser with friction pads then yes you need to grease the towball prior to hitching up.

If the trailer is unbraked then malke sure its within the towing limits of your car.

Half the cars unladen kerbweight or 750kg whichever is less.

In your case it will be half the cars unladen kerbweight unless a lower limit is imposed.

Thank you Grampian - I will check this out. I'm sure it will be okay but certainly worth checking!
