I have a 59 plate Kia Sorento and while on holiday in France the turbo went. Before I went to France I took the car to the Kia dealer for a recall to down rate the turbo. When I received the car back there was a whistling noise. I took the car back and they reported no problems. I then noticed another associated noise and reported this and again they had the car back and reported no problems. In France the turbo blew and caused me no end of hassle. After my holiday I went back to the garage and they have basically said that when the car left them there were no issues. Anyway I refused to leave and eventually they a agreed a 1 hours diagnostic check. I have been in touch with Kia customer services and they have muted that they may be willing to offer a goodwill gesture, whatever that means. The car had a 12 months warranty from the garage I originally bought the car from. This has now run out, but the problems were reported before the warranty run out.The car in now back at the Kia garage and I would appreciate some advice of my next move.

Thought all Kias had a 7 year warranty.

Never heard of a Turbo Down rate and as for recalls can't see any on UKsorento web so not sure what/why your sorento was recalled the garage is hoping you will go away keep calling them and make notes of what was said they should honour any warranty even if it was ok when it left them the parts should be covered.

It has a full service history. The mileage is 33,000. I have contacted Kia customer care and they have said they cannot act until the fault is diagnosed. They would then be willing to offer a goodwill gesture. A diagnostic has been carried out, but they still could not get it started. They now want £70.00 to carry out a compression test. This still does not guarantee a conclusion. Not sure what to do next?

This must be a fairly common fault, I had two turbos fitted to the 56 plate facelift Sorento I owned, funnily enough, the second one blew in the South of France, fortunately mine was still under the Kia Warranty. Steve W
