We have one, towed our 2 berth Elddis van mtplm was 1150 I think, downside was that the back suspension was really soft so looked like it was too heavy other than that it towed really well, no clutch burn when reversing. We're currently looking at replacing it as its no longer suitable for hubbbys needs but we're struggling to find a car that fits the bill with spec we currently have

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has some new, diff info on this vehicle as a tow car. Again its one of the options I am looking at rather than the mondeo.
The 2ltr version is where I am looking so weight/ratio etc not a problem as it has a kerbweight of 1721 just wondered what its like towing etc.
We are towing with a 1.6 diesel for our Swift Silhouette. We have been very happy with it. We have just towed from the West Midlands to Holland with no problems and last year travelled to Brussels and back. Ours is a 60 plate and Max towing weight is 1300kg.
70 Kg is a fairly standard tow bar weight, think of it as a person stood on the ball hitch, then add the weight of a full tank of fuel, back seat passengers, luggage all this has to be taken by the back axle. We tow with the EGC version, no problems, only problem is I cannot cruise at 70mph on the French roads - too much wind resistance. Under 3500 Kg.
