We have just acquired a Hyundai Matrix to replace our Rover 25 as our tow-car. (Only a small, light van) I have now got the new tow-bar to fit and wondered about the reversing sensors. Will they be set off by the ball and two 7-pin sockets that will be sticking out at the back. The sensors nearest to this are about 8" (20cm)either side of the ball. I am hoping all will be well. I know they will go off once the van is hooked up, but it is when we go solo without the van I am concerned about. I don't want to have to disable the sensors.
The towball won't interefere with the sensors, it's where you have the twin sockets that will cause the problem so you need to have the sockets fitted under the bumper by means of an angled bracket and not fixed directly behind the two 16mm. mounting bolts.
I have same as 664DaveS. Press the off switch and the panic beeping stops! However reversing camera still shows a lovely view of the front of the van whilst in reverse. Not a big problem and actually means in very sharp cornering I can see if the car and van are in danger of jacknifing - handy!
------------- Why am i doing this instead of camping??!!
