We have been looking at a used Raclet Quickstop and wondered if our car is capable of towing it. We have a 59 plate 1.6HDI 75HP Peugeot Partner Tepee (like a Citroen Berlingo).
We entered the car and trailer info onto the towcar link we found on the forum but it mentioned at the end of the info that hill starts would be OK as long as you got traction. We are confused! Any help much appreciated.
What is the weight of the Quickstop? Assuming it's unbraked I guess that it's around 500kg. What's the unbraked towing limit of the Partner? I think it'a around 650kg but you can check this in your handbook, unfortunately I threw the brochure out today so I can't give you the details.
If the above figures are correct and you load the trailer and van correctly with the correct noseweight you should be fine. Check your handbook though as the weights change from model to model and year to year.
"hill starts would be OK as long as you got traction" isn't something to really worry about as it could relate to any vehicle on the road, maybe more so with front wheel drive, but anything on a hill start could loose traction.

We once had a 1600 fwd Escort, and towed a combi camp, once we were on a hill waiting for traffic lights to change, it was a very wet day shortly after a long dry spell, when we came to set off the front tyres could not get a grip on the wet road, someone passing had to give us a push to get going
