Which is the better towcar. The Land Rover Freelander or the Kia Sorrento. (looking at around a 2009/10 model)

I have been informed that the Indian built Freelanders are not all that reliable. Does anyone know better ?

I have a 2006 X Trail at the moment and was also considering a newer one of these. Only getting 24 mpg (towing only) with the X Trail.  40mpg on a run.

In the bottom right is the mileage covered  on the left is the distance you can still go, this normally increases when past the half tank mark shown, this is the Skoda Superb 1,9 tdi 130 bhp

Why do you need a 4x4??? if you're fed up with trying to keep the national debt down, most family sizes diesel car will tow your van, you were told in your other post that if you wanted a 4x4 the Skoda Scout or Superb is the way to go  both being 4x4 only if required, both return 50 plus solo or 35 plus towing, even the none 4x4 versions will tow it

I like a 4x4 because I do some rallying - need to get in and out of fields - sometimes wet ones. The wife likes to be high up when she is towing as well - so this is why I am asking about those 2 cars.

My parents get a new Freelander 2 every 2 years; number of recalls & things that go wrong within 2 years is scary.

They also tow a giant Swift Conqueror (1663kg MIRO, 1900kg MTPLM) which has killed two rear diffs and counting...

They are at 106% weight balance.

Have met folks on caravan sights and talked about 4x4s; Kia, Nissan & Toyota always come out on top for never letting you down, in any weather.

The older shape Sorrento was solid rear axle, had higher kerbweight & max towing weight.
