Will a caravan battery need putting on charge sometimes or is the on board charger enough to keep it charged up ?
Thank you we new to caravanning but its best thing we ever bought !!! couldn't do it without the very generous help of you all so thank you

If you get a pitch with electric hook up your battery will also be charged

Thank you so while hook up is on it should not need anything else ? must be the on board charger then because the battery runs down after about a week - 10 days.

Is the charger switched on?

Also depends on how much power you use. It maybe 8 amps, So if you draw more than that then the battery will be losing charge.

What do you run on 12 volts?

To check the charger, Disconnect the battery and plug the hookup lead in. Check for a voltage at the battery leads or switch on an internal 12volt light.

We have both solar panels and on-board charging, and the panels can keep up with everything we use normally.

Most charging systems only work if you're on EHU.

The onboard charger wont charge it to 100% though.

So a decent battery charger to top it up every now and then is a good idea.
Also they lose charge when in storage so every month top it up with a car type battery charger.
