How heavy is the caravan MTPLM in kg?

A common rail 1.9 diesel should be more than ballsy enough; its the weight in the car kerbweight you need...

My sister almost bought an astra diesel. She phone me with the details and i looked it up.. It had about 65bhp.

I said you wont be towing your caravan with that.

2 cars maybe an identical spec sitting side by side but one may have a more powerful engine than the other.

Ah, the none B+E conundrum...

3500kg still leaves you with a ton of options... (Ha)

Our 1250kg MTPLM 5 berth caravan can be towed by a raft of family estates safely, Primera, Mondeo, Vectra, Insignia.

3500-1250=2250kg Gross Vehicle Weight for towcar; the car empty must be more than caravan full. 85% balance rule is best, so 1.176x1250=1470kg min kerbweight. Quick & simple.

A bit mathy, but gives you some idea for working it out!!

I suspect your 2 berth will be around 1000kg MTPLM; a whole series of cars, including the Astra 1.9cdti, should be fine.

Use http://www.towcar.info/index.php works well for your weights, balance, power etc.

If your van is not listed, just enter details of your own...
