Hi
The posts so far seem to have the S-Max covered but I would just add that I bought an 09 2.0 diesel Auto Titanium 4 weeks ago.
Have to say it is a great car. I have had 4 wheel drives for the last 14 years and couldn't get my head around towing a caravan with anything less.
We towed our Bailey Senator with "Max" to Lincoln from Cheshire taking the Derby - Newark route and we were both gob-smacked by how effortless it was. As it was the first time towing we were only doing 55 on the motorway hence trucks were overtaking us and nothing budged an inch. Totally stable with 75kg nose weight.
My only addition to the car is the "tyrepal" system due to no spare and it works well even advising on the caravan tyres. The only pain is the locking rings which I have thrown away as they are a right pain when changing tyre pressures before and after towing. I belive the later models have tyre pressure monitoring.

All the best

John

Max is s great tower ...but the 85% rule made us change as we have a a twin axle conqueror and as many said was silly to tow with...but it pulled great....shame it had to be exchanged for a gas guzzler ...

85% is not a rule but guidance for less experianced towers. I believe you can tow upto 100% legally, assuming you are comfortable with your towing ability / car van combo.
