Ive just traded in my 55 plate sorrie and bought a 11 plate Peugeot 508 sw. Looking to get a towbar on and don't know whether to go with the dedicated or universal electrics as there is a significant price difference.
Depends if the car has a bulb failure/monitor system or stability control system.
If yes then a dedicated plug in loom is best. Because when programmed plugging in the caravan or trailer will disable the reversing sensors, And foglights and set the stability system etc.
If you have none of those then a simple wiring kit will work, Possibly with a bypass relay.
Perhaps the clue is in the "significant price difference". I think you will find the dedicated wiring loom is significantly better too. If it is anything like my car, the dedicated loom had an amazing number of wires, but was simple to install as it just plugged straight into the car's existing wiring harness.
You've paid a lot for the car, don't scrimp on something as important as this, especially as it will still be under warranty I assume.
Having the dedicated electrics mean I now save 5 minutes before every trip not having to check the road lights on my Caravan.
I got a waring message on the dashboard the other day "Trailer right turn signal faulty" Sure enough, the bulb had blown. Well worth the investment IMHO.
