It's fine, but there's a rather long pull up (Dunmail Raise) just north of Grasmere which not much get your speed up first. Also a couple of tight long bends just before Grasmere (between Rydal and Grasmere).

But nothing at all to cause any difficulty whatsoever. Coming north on the M6 to Keswick i prefer to come off the moorway and drive past Kendal and though Windermere. I find it s quicker and s a lovely ride.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Hi anybody know if the a591 is suitable for towing a caravan on as we are travelling from Kendal to Keswick or is the m6 a better option. Thanks John.
just be aware that traffic in and around Kendal/Windemere /Keswick can cause lengthy hold ups at busy times particularly at weekends if the sun is shining. Personally I would use the M6 as the driving is much easier but this appears to be a minority view
I agree with you that driving is much easier on the motorway, but setting off from Kendal using the A591 is certainly quicker and it is a lovely drive, and no problem with a caravan and a decent towcar
