Only records I can find for the Nightstar puts the max weight at approx 1450kg, which means a towcar around 1650kg.  Using the little used power weight formula of 50hp / tonne of gross train weight (eh?) the engine will need to produce a minimum of 160hp.

Hmm,  1650kg and 160hp - you're looking at a big 2.0L  peeple carrier / SUV / 4x4.

Check the exact weight on the vans chassis plate - probably located near the door or on the A frame.

MIRO = unladen weight (add 200kg for loading.). That'll be the max weight. Multiply that figure by 1.15 to give minimum recommended towcar weight. (85% rule)
