I am fitting Barum Vanis tyres, these are van tyres and designed to carry heavy loads as they have stronger side walls. The load index is 99 which gives me a factor of safety of just over 10% on the max load for tyre.
I will need to work out the correct air pressure for these tyres.
£63 a tyre, these were recommended to me by a small independent long established tyre dealer.
Barum are great - changed OH car over this time to the Bravuris ones from Pirelli's. much better grip and wear so far and saved a few pennies also. Good mid range tyre
Has anyone else found that their caravoan tyres wear on the inside edge. I thought the wear would be more even across the width with maybe just slightly more wear on the inside.
Silly question, Can you track caravan wheels?. I've never heard of it but to me it would look as though the wheels need pulled over in the head.
Round edged tyres, under inflated with a heavy load will cause bulging and erratic inside wear.
Suspect that's what the previous owner did.
Indespension type sprung units cannot be adjusted; they are fit & forget. Only thing can cause tyre to lean inwards to any degree would be a worn bearing; but to wear tyres as bad as your old ones, it would need to be virtually hanging off.
Don't worry on it; high pressure in your new heavy duty van tyres and you will be fine.
Ps to answer other post;
I got Nankang 8 ply van tyres, cost £45 each at mates rates (wanted shut of them). Very good square edged tyres though, made in China I think. Hold 60psi for months.

I reckon them to be OK for quality; will probably use them again.

Does this seem expensive to you guys as I have never bought caravan tyres.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Half of your MTPLM is 683kg, and 69PSI is to carry 825kg on new tyres.
Scaling that back, means tyres are at 82% of their load. 82% of 69PSI is 57PSI... Try 60PSI as a starter for ten; keep eye on any uneven wear.

Have inflated to 50 psi. Heading.g of for the weekend. It's about 55 miles to the site will check again once I get there. I am getting very nervous about tyre pressure, never had to inflate a tyre over 42psi. Hope it does go bang! LOL
The 6-wheeler carries 3500kgs over six wheels, the 4-wheeler carries 2600kg over the four, so we tend to run the smaller trailer at the higher pressure.

Presume DOESNT GO BANG!!
Commercial vans tyres can be up at these pressures; dont worry about it, its better to have that much in than not enough; thats what caused the old ones to wear down to the canvas. Let the tyre sidewall be your guide; thats what the manufacturers have TUV tested it to.
