hi we have a kia sportage 2009 just done a towsafe report and am a bit confused kerb weight is1758 max tow 1800

on the van we been looking at a swift 2 berth  the weights are unladen 1230 laden 1408 which seems ok but we need to add 30 kg for our motor mover so now tried whattowcar and it dont have our van on there its a swift challenger 470

its a 2006 can anyone help .........Dont take much to confuse me OH is ok at towing but said you know how to work the weights out best ..... Help totally stuck thanks guys all help really appreciated

Sounds pretty good - around an 80% match.

If you add the weight of your mover to the unladen weight it gives you 1260kg. Take this from your MTPLM of 1408kg and your payload is 148kg - IF the van really does weigh 1230kg unladen to start with ('vans are often overweight). The important thing is that you don't go over your 1408kg MTPLM. Keep the weight down in the 'van and you should be fine.

thanks we have a fleetwood now and it is lighter than the swift  its 1350 laden so we were unsure about this one the fleetwood is a 4 berth too but is too big for us and its getting older so has started costing more in repairs  so we have decide to look at the swift and ad the grandkids are grown we only need a 2 berth so will be looking at it next week fingers crossed

1408 laden is 1408kg laden with or without a mover.

The mover reduces the amount you can carry in the van by that amount.

so if the van is 1230 and laden it is 1408 and it has a mover what payload would that give us ?????
would it be the 148 kg that mel has said

If the mover is 30kg as you said, and the 1230kg unladen figure is accurate, the payload would be 148kg.
