I have just purchased a second hand ace ambassador 2004 . I am having a problem in can not find where to find to turn on the lights when the van is not connected to mains electric .i have tried all the switches on the lights can anybody help

Is there a switch just inside the door somewhere? On our Coronette there was a switch all alone just inside which was a master switch for the lights, meaning one could exit the caravan and switch the lot off from one point, and bring them back on when entering to save falling over everything fumbling for the ceiling light switches.

I may be asking the obvious here  but there is a battery in the van ?  if there is, is it charged up,  When connected to the mains do the 12v lights work ?  if not is the charger/transformer switched on.  Also you may have a switch next to the battery meter to turn the 12v on. On some vans this can be a rocker switch to switch from car to van

Yes battery is fully charged and lights work on mains and rocker switch is set to van but still no luck.

Have a look where the MCB unit is (electrical trip switches) as there may be a rocker switch located somewhere in that region. There is on mine anyway which is an orange rocker switch which says 12V above it and when you flick it over it illuminates activating the 12 volt electrical supply. This is not the rocker switch with Car/Van on it, this is a different switch altogether that isolates the 12 volt circuit.

Does the pump work ? only asking as if this works then you are getting power from the battery.

I would check as per Tango which is what I was getting at when asking f the charger/transformer was switched on. I don't know if the motor mover goes through the caravans 12v wiring or if it's taken straight from the battery. Don't have one on my van but at least the battery is ok sorry can't be of more help

Motor movers usually on its own unique high current circuit, powered directly with thick cables from the battery itself.

 

Sounds like you have trip or switch somewhere that needs switching over for use with van battery only. Do the lights work when connected to 12S plug on the car?
