Hi, I am looking to buy an SUV to tow our Abbey Vogue caravan. Does anybody have any feedback on power & fuel consumption for Volvo XC60 or VW Tiguan.

I would check with the manufacture of each vehicle, they publish these details for each model and engine variant.
Depends on your budget to what power engine you can afford.

XC60 is bigger than the VW, one I tried was a 2.4 D5  with 200odd bhp, very nice but a lot of money!

Why is it everytime someone expresses interest in a 4 x 4 SB gives his stock reply?

Our caravan is under 1500Kg, we tow with a 4 x 4 because :

a. They are very stable,

b. We like the high driving position,

c They are good in snow, on wet grass etc(my wife travels around Shropshire in ours for work-so safer in winter)

d. You can tow caravans off muddy pitches when their FWD car gets stuck!

e. We like them (had 3-4 x4s at one time!)

F. BECAUSE WE CAN!

Have a nice day

Only if it is a manual, I think the auto has a limit of 1500kgs

I have had shogun sport, and now have ml270cdi and think the merc is really good on fuel,my wife prefers to drive big higher up cars as they feel safer,as we have children this is the main reason.and it tows with ease.

We have a Skoda Yeti 2.0 4x4

Although not quite like the Rovers etc but cannot fault it for towing what's so ever. The 4x4 bit still works for us when we need it. Could not possibly afford one of the others.
Can tow up to 1800kg but would not go that far as that is the manufactures readings. But 1600kg is easy enough.

I would think towing 1600kg with a Yeti is sailing a bit close to the wind.

"Lunar Ariva. MTPLM: 995kg"

For the latest one anyway - probably OK with that.
