Hey guys.
Can anyone recommend a gas level checker please that actually works? cheers, not the magnetic one that just slaps on the side of your bottle.
You can get either a bottle top regulator with gauge or a gauge that fits onto pigtail if you have a bulkhead regulator. Otherwise weigh the bottle on bathroom scales. The empty(tare)weight should be stamped onto bottle somewhere so you can calculate weight of content from that.
the gauges that fit to the bottle outlet will only measure the pressure as a result of the vaporisation of the liquid to gas. They are no indication of the amount of gas in the bottle. The ultrasound sensors that the likes of Truma produce are accurate but expensive and a fiddle to use. A changeover unit for two bottles is a lot cheaper and will show which bottle is in use. When one becomes empty it is time to change it - at least that is how I have worked it for the last 50 odd years, cant be doing with all of this checking and worrying about exactly how much gas is in the bottle.
