39mpg MK3 Mondeo 2L Diesel towing 1200kg 4 up with a mobility scooter and a grumpy old git that thought 60mph was terrifying and kept telling me to slow down.
So mostly at 56mph. There was no way i was going any slower.
looking at this is it realy worth buying a diesel car? I love driving my car but thought the petrol was horrendous but by looking at these diesel isn't a lot better mmmm you guys put a spanner in the works now lol
I think it depends on how much you drive without towing, I get 28mpg towing on long journeys and 25mpg everyday as I do short journeys of 7 miles each way to work in a 2.0 petrol BMW towing a 865kg Elddis Wisp

When i had the 2L petrol Mondeo i used to get 26mpg.
An extra 10mpg, Makes the difference between flling up on the way and getting all the way there and a couple of days worth of fuel for the same money.
2009 Honda Civic petrol v-tec, Elddis Avante 462 2013, 1260kg fully laden, 34mpg towing, 39mpg solo, thats with just 2 adults and my mobility scooter in the car on both quotes.
Planning to upgrade our towcar to a Honda CRV 2.2 diesel in the new year, so that will be a whole new ball game both when towing and solo as far as mpg is concerned.
