hi has anybody use or no anybody got a mini country 2l diesel as a tow car had a look on website it says max permissble weight is 1780kg is this the towing weights

No, that sounds like the maximum permitted train weight.
Check the weights plate, normally on the bottom of the drivers B post.

As above that is the max weight of the car fully loaded with passengers, Fuel and luggage.

The max tow is actually 1200kg..

The 1.6 diesel is only 800kg.

Find your minis kerbweight and look for a caravan that when loaded weighs 85% of that figure

1200Kg is only for the auto model ... manual is less at 800Kg even for the 2.0SD.

Looked at them when they first come out ... love the customisation options but low towing limits really limit its appeal for caravanners.

Sorry, gotta contradict this suggestion as this implies any vehicle can be used as a towcar providing you aim for an 85% ratio, which simply isn't the case.
There are many vehicles with a much lower towing limit than this calculation would equate to, plus there are some vehicles that aren't approved for towing use whatsoever.

You need to identify the manufacturers approved towing limit for your choice of car, but IainM's response is correct I feel sure, for your quoted model.

I spotted a Zafira for sale. In brilliant condition and not something i would normally consider but condition and price said it would be a bargain and reliable.

Kerbweight 1300+kg OK.. Max tow 1050kg.. Arghhh

Ok perhaps I should have added that providing the car has sufficient towing capacity keep to the 85% advisory limit

thanks for answers not looking good for mini then got six months left on leon the yeti still looking good but not keen on shape dont fancy a 4x4
