I'm thinking of havin my vectra 1.9cdti 120 bhp maped to pull my bailey ranger 556 better can anyone give any advise should I have it done or is it a bad idea many thank phil.
My advice would be to try the search facility as this topic has been discussed in the past, although not specifically for a Vectra.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Is it down on power or something? That caravns about 1200kg laden?
120bhp diesel should pull that all day long, If its a 6 speed gearbox then 6th maybe a bit tall when towing so stick to 5th i did on my last couple of trips and almost hit 40mpg.
I have the 130bhp Mondeo though. But i still managed to tow the caravan up the hills on the A30 in Cornwall when a turbo pipe popped off. I could still keep going even without turbo assistance.
If you do choose for a remap get one done where they have a rolling road and can tune it to have the power where you want it.
Not a guy with a laptop that comes out and ups the fuel pressure and thinks up a new number and tells you that you now have 5000bhp.
We have a Citroen Xsara picasso 2ltr HDI and have been thinking about having that remapped as it seems a little sluggish, but having said that it pulled our 1200KG Elddis caravan ok when we purchased it back in october..

This as been covered before as said. But i have had all my cars remapped in the past. And it is well worth having it done.
Am sure the vectra engine is the same as the frontera, when i had that remapped, The frontera pulled like a tractor!

They tend to be less reliable after a remap. Turbo and clutch issues mainly.
Avoid the ebay boxes...
Yes it is the 90bhp Picasso Grampian,I Will remember that thanks for the info.

I had my Mitsubishi outlander remapped, that had the 2.0 tdi 138bhp VW engine and the power was delivered more smoothly, more torq, power and economical.
I will be having my 3.0 tdi Audi Allroad remapped from the standard 230bhp when funds allow.
I have had my 1.9 105 bhp tdi mapped and its now on 140 bhp I get between 5 and 8 MPG more in town driving and even more on a long run, and less gear changes due to the higher torque, and its smother, I can leave it in 2nd at most junctions as long as nothing is coming
don't forget you may need to tell your insurance company the car has been modified if you go for a re-map,When I considered it for my 2.5 diesel skoda spoke to my insurers first they said I would be charged a higher premium because no longer standard.
