Ours is a Coachman...

No problems (so far)...

I think they're better built compared to others we viewed* when we were looking for one, and this is our first van.

The older ones were renown for having a high build quality construction with very little problems but unfortunately since about 2010 there have been numerous problems but not all identical apparently.

Hi

We live not far from the East Yorkshire manufacturers Swift Group and Coachman, I know a few people employed in the industry and the general concensus is that Coachman are superior in build quality - We had a 2000 Amara bought newand up until 2011 when we changed vans never had any issues at all.

I think all manufactures are very much the same - Coachman definately one of the better ones

We had a Coachman about 10 years ago, a lovely well built caravan that gave very few problems.

In contrast though, we were pitched next to someone with a Coachman last season who was out on his maiden voyage, and he was having a string of problems with it, including the stitching coming undone on his mattress, water pump not working, and problems with his electrics constantly tripping out.

Ours is 4 years old now and still spot on. We've had swift and bailey previously and this is the keeper.

They tend to be a bit in the heavy side compared to similar sized vans from other manufacturers

And the reason why Coachman caravans are heavier is due to the fact that they have a more robust construction in comparison to other makes. If more materials are used in the main construction during the manufacturing process then the end result is that the caravan will of course be heavier. Obviously this can affect the noseweight which has been an issue over the past years and that's why Coachman have recently re-designed the location of the gas cylinder locker further back nearer the axle to assist in lightening the noseweight.
