Are we talking about new cars or older models?

According to the Peugeot brochure the 3008 1.6hdi egc has a max tow weight of 1090 or 1300kgs depending on which model you have, they both have a nose weight of 70kg.

I'll have a look and see if I still have a Citroen brochure for the other vehicle.

I don't have the weights for 2010 any longer but I've had a look at another website which gives the same weights as stated above. I think you need to double check the weights as the figures I have from Peugeot say the caravan is too heavy for the 3008.

I have heard that the rear suspension on the 3008 is a bit soft and so far I haven't seen one on a camp site towing a caravan so haven't been able to ask anybody about their personal experience of the car.

I don't have the Citroen brochure any more so I can't give the figures for the C4.

The C4 saloon is too small unless you mean C4 Picasso which will be ok depending on model, go for 2litre diesel, 3008 will also tow it depending on model so check handbook, 1500kg max tow on some. 90% match though for your caravan & I'd go for the 2litre diesel version, that weight of caravan is a bit much for 1.6diesel.

Hi Steve, I would steer clear of the 3008 its far to light for towing anything of size, and as has been said already the rear suspension is soft. If I put a months shopping in the boot the front wheels can loose traction. Sixth gear will be no no, fuel consumption will be on the high side, if I push mine with four in mpg drops to 35ish or even lower. I would try a C4 Picasso more room and heavier also has a bigger footprint. My 3008 is 2011 115bhp nice car to drive don't get me wrong great on the motorway not a lot of room in the rear seats head up display is brilliant, my wife's C3 Picasso has more room. As they say the choose is yours.

we had a 61 plate 3008 and we towed our 2 berth (1250MTLPM) caravan with it and it towed ok, the back is soft so we put some spring assistors on but it didn't make much difference. The engine was also very tinny sounding and the turbo lag was horrendous at times. We have just changed to a Vauxhall Zafira Tourer 2.0 and it's so much better. We no longer have the caravan but I'd be happy to tow with the Tourer

Go for a Octavia 2.0TDi CR, far better engine, smooth power with plenty of torque and fuel efficient. The estate 4x4 has a mass in service of 1,495kg with a tow limit of 1,600kg.
I would be happy to tow your van, 1,350kg at 90% with mine. Stay with Skoda; there is also the Scout or the Yeti to consider.

I have no axe to grind about Skodas, but I wouldn't swap one for a Peugeot.
