A blooming big heavy one. We have a big 7 series BMW tows a dream. But the tow bar was £1200 fitted as not considered normal so hard to get. We also have a 4 x 4 for when wet or muddy. Have previously used big heavy diesel mercedes.
------------- Live life to the full you are a long time dead
Why not a 4×4? Surely somthing like a Discovery would be ideal.
The 3 or 4 versions drive like 'normal' cars when you are not towing and tow wonderfully.
Daves1
Or a Mitsubishi Shogun? I have heard that a Nissan Pathfinder will also do the job, these are cheaper to buy, tax and insure than a Shogun (I think) but not sure if they are as good in the long run.

What Adria is that I always thought they were lightweight
I would guess an Astella.
The lighter models like our Altea are lightweight (6 berth and 1300kg all up) , the top range ones are certainly not lightweight and are well specced and well made.

Only just spotted 1800kg on a single axle? Whats the noseweight going to be like to get it stable?
Recommended 7% is 126kg. Probably more than most cars can handle.
Not unusual these days for non UK vans. Think all Adrias are built on the longer Euro chassis
Many Uk vans come out of factory with noseweights these days it seems of 100kg so nothing unusual about going higher if hitch/chassis can take it and is rated as such
Problem comes from getting a non 4x4 to take over 100kg on the nose (answer is you won't find one!)
Don't forget 7% is maximum not target. 5% is only 90kg so somewhere between those two will be fine
