How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
you will have a problem with nose weight if looking at non 4 x 4. Even they can have a problem if auto.At best your choice is limited and you may be on the edge of safe limits. Some of the 4x4s operatre on 2 wd and only switch to 4wd when needed and are more car like . Santa Fe , Sorrento and Rav 4? . Probably others.
I would have thought you do need a 4 x 4 if only to handle the noseweight. You are going to be too light on noseweight anyway, with Alko hitches limited to 100 kg, so you really need stability.
It's a rare car that can take 100 kg noseweight.

I tow my Charisma 560 with a Santa Fe (2006 - Mk2 version)
which is about 1400kgs fully loaded. Compared to my previous Volvo V70 it is superb. Hardly know the caravan is there.
I used to have a VW T4 2500cc 88kw. I only towed the Charisma twice with it - it shrugged it! No problems at all. VERY stable and nice and positive off the mark at the traffic lights. Extremely capable. Great vehicle.
