Caravan club says

Outfit match report

The Club advises that a Citroen C3 Picasso 1.6VTi 16V 120HP VTR+ (2009) can, with warnings, tow a Mardon Classique 460/2EK (1990)

Disclaimer

The data on which this advice is based is collated from manufacturers’ published data and credible industry data suppliers. While
every reasonable precaution is taken to ensure its accuracy, the Caravan Club cannot accept any responsibility for the
consequences of any errors or omissions which may occur.

Kerb weight: 81%
The caravan's laden weight is within 85% of the car's kerb weight, and therefore meets Club guidelines.
Towing limit: 100%
The caravan's laden weight is within the car's stated towing limit, and therefore meets legal limitations.
Gross train weight: 110%
We do not have a gross train weight figure for this car. There is significant risk of the car’s GTW being exceeded
if both car and caravan are heavily laden, as some car makers define GTW as less than the sum of the car and
the caravan’s fully laden weights, particularly for cars with more than 5 seats. To avoid exceeding this legal limit,
we advise you to check the car’s GTW suitability by referring to the car retailer or maker (or the weight plate on
the car, if available).
Nose weight: 143%
The car's nose weight should be fine to safely tow this caravan. If this figure is high, however, (typically over
100%) care will be needed to load the caravan so that the car’s nose weight limit is not exceeded, but this
should be practically achievable. Aim for 5-7% of the caravan’s actual laden weight without overloading the car.
BHP per ton: 44
The car’s engine power should be fine to safely tow this caravan

Check the weight plate and car handbook carefully as the EGS versions often have a lower towing limit than the manual versions.

It's the max weight of the caravan that's important. If the ex works weight is 900kg the MTPLM will be 1000kg or more. I think the max tow limit was 1000kg when I looked at the C3 but that was some time ago so you'll need to check the plate on the car and the handbook. On some of the Citroens the car can not tow the max weight if the car is also loaded to the max as that puts it over the gross train weight.

Check the handbook and weight plate carefully, you may be ok. If it is too heavy could you perhaps use it as a seasonal?

Rob

1100kg max tow weight for that model so probably ok with your caravan & 80% match so ok. You won't be going very quick up hills with the petrol though. Pity you didn't go for diesel for better torque but if its the car you have then it will do the job.
