from my understanding when I purchased one for a van we used to own is that the figures are related to the weight of the van, so 1300 is for vans up to 1360kg and the other one is for vans over that weight
Suitable for attachment to drawbars or approved overrun braking equipment for single axle (and some tandem axle) caravan/trailers, with a minimum weight of 180 Kg and a maximum permissible weight of 1360 Kg.

no idea if it would make any difference to your towing experience, maybe someone else can tell you

We used to have the 1300 on ourr older van which had a max. weight of 1000kg. We have one of the others on our current van max. weight 1565 kg. I don't think there would be anything gained in your towing experience by 'upgrading' as you only want so much friction as a dampening force.

Its not just the weight. The 2004/3004 will have 2 sets of friction pads that work on the sway and pitching.
The 1300 only has one set to help with the swaying.
Do you need a stabiliser?

Our horse trailer has no stabiliser even thought it is quite heavy with 2 horses loaded. I don't remember seeing a horse trailer with a stabiliser.
