Hi I know this is a long shot but does anyone know a cheap tow bar fitter in the Birmingham area. So far I have been quoted anything from £265 to £325 for towbar and single electrics.

sounds about right,n ot cheap anymore,My towbar is 325 for twin electrics and they come to me,cheap is not the answer here,you just want the van to stay on the back,only cheaper way is get a used one off ebay and fit yourself.Not an easy job really.I think your quoted prices are correct

That sounds about right I have just paid £300 for twin electrics on my new Xtrail

£265 is cheap. The days of buying a tow bar for £15 on exchange & mart and fitting yourself are long gone. I remember I was doing this on a mk 2 escorts. My last one was fitted at over £300.

Try Jim at JIB towbars, mobile fitting service, on 08452698865, he is very friendly , gives sound advice, and competitive rates, he fitted my 7 pin, then later changed it to a 13 pin and is converting my new cars 7 pin over next week.
