If you have an xf with a factory fitted towbar beware! If you hook it up to a Caravan with traditional bulbs then the brake lights may not work if you have high level as well. The reason would appear to be something in the management system which detects too much power being taken by the lights so isolates them. This takes some time to reset so if you connect an ordinary trailer board then the brake lights won't work on that either. This has taken months to resolve, and the dealer hadn't a clue. It was only a comment on another forum which hinted at the problem. Changing the top brake lights to led's solved the problem. It does not seem to be isolated to jags. Lord protect me from sophisticated cars!
