Hi there everyone, you must all be fed up of hearing this topic, we have just been to storage today getting van ready for next weekend which will be our first outing since buying it last September,on juggling things around inside and checking Nose weight we have achieved a reading between 65kg & 70kg, the van has a nose weight of 75kg ( was told this by previous owner )and is an Elddis crown sovereign MPTLM of 1200kg and the car a Citroen Xsara Picasso 2ltr HDI what we would like to know would you say this is an ideal nose weight ?, many thanks in advance....

Sounds good to me. The general target is to achieve a nose weight of between 5 and 7% of the vans MTPLM, which your weight of 65-70kgs sits nicely in.
Obviously the vehicle will have a maximum nose-weight limit imposed on it too by the manufacturer (not sure what yours would be for the Citroen) and one condition you must meet is to not exceed the cars limit, while aiming to achieve the approx target for the van.
You might find this pdf document of interest, from The Caravan Club.
Can't see a towbar download weight in Xsara Picasso manual but probably 70kg. The weight should be on towbar plate if you can read it so caravan noseweight needs to be about 70kg, which is light for a caravan of that weight really, it would be better if it was more like 80-90kg, so if towbar allows more then increase it to that figure, but try to load caravan for max noseweight that car towbar allows.
I've just found the weights and you're right, 80kgs nose limit on your Pic (a colleague had one, thought they were 70kgs from memory).
With that limit, there would be some benefit in easing the weight higher if you can, aiming for nearer 75Kgs perhaps. I'm probably too cautious, but I'm not in favour of running the maximum weights you can, as that removes and leeway you might encounter with packing the van slightly differently at anytime.
I would do the same add a bit more. My van tows much better the closer you get to 70kg.
Drop down to 60 and it will wiggle when towing. Not a snake, Just a little wiggle that you dont feel in the car but when you watch thge rear corners in the mirrors you can
see it move slightly.
70kg and that stops. I moved the spare wheel to the front locker and upped the gas bottle to a 7kg one.
The person who we purchased the van off said he always kept the nose weight to 75kg and advised us to do the same, he once towed it with a Picasso same as us.
