Bit of a tall order really because you will be looking a med sized diesel car a few yrs old so it will be the usual Mondeo, Skoda etc, any one of which could go expensively wrong with failed turbos & clutches etc so only advice would be to try & find one with a service history.
Trouble with any modern car is not usually basic engine/gearbox which should be good for 200k miles but all the other bits that can go wrong to make an older car not viable to repair. Not really worth getting an auto imho, older ones are poor economy & early dsg autos can be troublesome.
Why do you want more 'grunt'? Presumably caravan towing is only a small part of your annual mileage? As long as it can tow caravan why worry about power if you want economy on your commute? Whats wrong with your Citroen? That 2litre diesel is excellent engine & will run for 200k miles, if its running ok I'd hang onto until it ain't worth fixing.
