Hi folks.
I have a tow bar with single electrics, which has been fine for whenever we borrow my sister's caravan.
She has just bought a new one with the Alko system, so we are changing the electrics to twin.
An auto electrician has quoted around £40 for the job.
Does this sound about right?

Bob, how is a 13 pin to 2 7 pin converter going to help the OP when their tow car only has a single 7 pin connector at the moment?

They are asking about the cost of getting the other 7 pin connecter installed.

I thought the same. Adding a 2nd 7 pin socket or swapping the 7 pin to a 13 pin.

Did you make it clear to them what the job entails?

If swapping 2 7 pins for a 13 then £40 is more than i would want to pay. But if you dont want to do it yourself then not a ripoff price.

Adding the second 7 pin socket with wiring etc then its a great price. Same if turning a 7 pin single to a full function 13 pin.

windinherhair just said single socket, that could be 13 pin or 7 pin, if a 13 pin you can buy an adapter plug which I have just done

If its £40 for adding a 12s socket thats a fair price, if its converting a 13pin to twin just buy a splitter lead for £25ish.

Digressing slightly, don't forgot you will need an Al-Ko compatible ball. If not you risk becoming detached.
