Ben,
May be worth ringing the main VW dealer. They may have an offer on my dealer had 10% off. Had one done on my Volvo a while ago, dealer only £40 dearer than a tow bar fitter. Also got the recommended software upgrade that will not affect the car warranty and they done a really neat job.
In my eyes the electrics are really important. Had a fitter put a tow bar on my Honda, every now and then it would blow headlight bulbs. Was having to by one every other month.
