---------------------------------------------------------When you posted that the Sorento and van where going, and you were getting a Motorhome,my thoughts at the time were you will miss the Auto, although there are a few Auto Motorhomes about.
Birdman
The problem is that Peugeot don't have an auto option and Bailey only used their base vehicles. Had they used Fiat bases we would have had the choice. I made up for I by swapping the Sorento for a Venga auto as our normal transport around town

My wife has the Picanto Auto, you cannot beat the Auto in our land of roundabouts every few yards
Like many people, I have towed with both but have stuck with autos since 2005. So much easier. We used to have a twin axle Elddis and Disco 3 and reversing it was an absolute doddle with the Disco in low range. Didn't have to touch the accelerator pedal at all, even up hill.
Both gone now - don't really miss the Elddis but the Disco ... ()
Wish our Santa Fe had a low range selection but it can easily push (and pull!) our Peggy at idle on flat ground.
Automatik here.
But there is more then towing reasons.
Missus on,y can drive Automatik, due to disability, even she is not allowed, by me, to tow.
I am also very lazy, Automatik is a lot easyer. Lol
I have a Subaru Forester turbo with an auto gearbox.
It's fabulous for towing and both hubby and I agree that we'd never swap back to manual after having the auto.
It makes towing a relaxing, stress-free event. With the car being a turbo too, it also means that the boost never drops when the car changes gear so there is no loss of power like you'd get with a manual turbo.
We've got off some very muddy fields at Silverstone with the Forester when others have floundered in axle-deep mud, I love my All Wheel Drive!
------------- 2015 - our 1st year of caravanning with a new baby. Can't wait! :)
Definitely auto for me too. I have an old V70 diesel with a torque converter box, and it's absolutely ideal. The torque converter is a big plus as far as I am concerned, as it multiplies the torque when starting off. Particularly useful when pulling away with a heavy load up a steep hill.
Manual gearboxes may be fine for sports cars, but for towing or driving in traffic, give me an auto every time.
