Hi all,
I tryd for a joke a tow car match which was advertised at my old insurer, which I scrape after a really bad experience. Ha ha
It says I can NOT tow my swift challenger 490 which is about 1250kg with any of my cars as they are unsuitable for it.
It also advised me to buy a suitable tow car which would be around 1-3 years old and a lot money to pay for just a car.
I own a volvo v70 2,5 se petrol Automatik r registration estate,
And a mitsubishi pajero 2,5 td exceed long wheel base.
Both vehicle a far heavier then the van.
Volvo has 1760 kg
Pajero has 2060 kg weight.
So how can this be ? How can both cars be unsuitable towing a light weight van?
I cracked up by this result.
What's you're opinions?
Actually a couple.
No past my test in 1983.
Have class 1 HGV too but not driving it anymore.
Caravan fully loaded will not exceed the empty weight of the pajero.
Investigated a bit and it was actually advertised over we want any car on the insurers webside.
This explain the Towbar match to nearly new or 3 year old cars.
For matching a car to a caravan you use manufacturer literature for both car & caravan to ascertain correct weights. You don't rely on on random internet sites for correct information on what is a road safety issue.
There have been plenty of previous threads on here about the inaccuracy of car/caravan matching websites & illustrates the importance of using only reliable sources of car & caravan data & not random internet sites.
