I do like the front towbar, could nudge a few people in that. We only paid £1000 for our caravan so not much point putting a £500 fixed motor mover on, unless you can pick them up 2nd hand for a reasonable price.

Lots of reasons to fit a mover. My mover is probably worth more than the caravan but it doesnt stop it functioning as well as being fitted to a £20k van.

It makes hitching up a doddle. No need to mess around reversing the car upto the van. Bring the van to the car.
So onmuddy campsites, Unhitch and let the mover do the work.

My caravan storage steadily got tighter and tighter as cars got bigger and vans got bigger.
My hitch was inches away from the hitches on the vans stored opposite mine.
It got impossible to reverse the van back into its spot.

My van is really old and (allegedly) light at 650kg fully laden, but there is no way I can push it manually onto the drive, and no way to reverse it in, the road is too narrow. It cost me £900...

I at first had a Mr Shifta, which wasn't too bad, although it was still a sruggle. On a shingle drive, I put lengths of carpet under it to help it on its way - and a wider jockey wheel. And pushed the van, rather than pulled it.

However, one day I had to come down the road from the opposite end and had to pull rather than push the thing, and couldn't shift it more than a few feet at a time. I was practically in tears by the time it was on the drive, as I have back problems and can't shift anything remotely heavy. And no-one around to give me a hand either, and no relatives in to phone for help.

Well that was it. I looked around to see what was on offer, and bit the bullet and had a small motor mover fitted. The mover cost £700, so nearly what the van had cost. Did I care - no. I was past caring! However, it has paid for itself over and over, just in sheer easiness of getting the van back on the drive. Before that, I was dreading getting home and starting on that palaver yet again.

I sold the Mr Shifta to someone who had a level drive and no shingle to negotiate. And he was a big strong chap!

Its a bit like buying a cheap car. Just because it costs less than £500 doesnt mean you dont service it and replace worn brakes.

A full service and brakes all around may cost as much as the car. But if everything else is good then you will get years of service from it.

Thanks I think im going to look around for a second hand fixed mover. Which make sense in the long run especially since I broke my back in 2 positions 3 months ago so I'm not going to pulling and pushing caravans around

Once you have got one you can always transfer it from van to van.My first mover i fitted to 3 different vans before leaving it on the last one. I then bought a new one for present van as i had my monies worth out of the other over 10 years.

Picture looks the same as my purpleline enduro mover.

Mines been great. It sank in soft ground upto the depth of the tyre sidewall. yet the mover managed to pull it onto hard ground approx 20ft of soft grass. It left 2 ruts.

Got any levelling ramps? If not get some planks and test it before handing over your money.
