Hi there,
I am after some advice regarding a potential candidate for our new caravan. The caravan in question is a Swift Charisma 550 and my car is a Mazda 6 2.2d 143hp Sport saloon. The tow ratio is a hefty 96% in theory but will be either 78% or 84% in practical terms depending on whether we carry our kayak on top of our car or not. The GTW is within limits as is the max. tow capacity of the car (1600kg) but I am concerned about the nose weight as the car is rated at 75kg (fairly common I believe). I have read that 7% is the recommended nose weight on caravans meaning the Swift should read around 104kg. The two questions I have is whether I have a realistic chance of getting this to around 75kg (how would I find out before buying the van?!)? And if so, what would the implications be if 104kg is recommended?
All help appreciated!
Many thanks,
Dan
