The ones at either side of the door at the back, are they supposed to work or are they for show? Looked on POCUK which didn't really help.

I'm registered on the POCUK. And as far as I'm aware, them lights are only for show (blanks).

Just a quick question, is yours a mk3 or mk4 shogun though, (mines a mk3)??

Erm, never heard of mk3 or 4. It's a 3200 Mitsubishi Elegance auto. One of OH's mates told him the lights weren't working, MOT is soon.

Are there lights set in the rear bumper which work?, maybe the ones higher up are as suggested just for show as when the  tiaigate is open it would obscure these lights on one side.

It sounds similar to the Suzuki Grand Vitara XL7 I used to have that had a set of working lights in the bumper and a non working set higher up on the sides.

I was told they could not be linked up in the UK due to the lighting regulations but did work in some other countries.

Sounds like near enough exactly the same as my Shogun, an Elegance auto. But mine's a 2003 (mk3) model, the mk4's came out after 2006.

but looking at them, I can't see much chance between them.

And yes, the tail, brake and indicators are located in the bumper.

When i had my shogun, I wired the lights up, the harness was there, just bought the bulb holders. So all the back end lights worked.
