An unladen caravan may bounce more. They usually tow better with some weight in them.
Adding all the luggage to the car could overload the car also.
Its a balancing act between car and van. Lots of figures to stay within.
Cars max laden weight, As well as front and rear axle loading limits. Noseweight which also affects the rear axle loading.
Cars max tow weight, Caravans gross laden weight, Combined car/van gross train weight.
Lots of variables where one person maybe close to their vans limits not not their car.
