I tow a trailer tent with a max weight of 500KG, with a MK1 Octavia.

Am I correct in thinking the nose weight should be 7% of the weight of the trailer i.e 35KG or do I need to get to Skoda's max nose weight what ever that might be?

7% is just a recommended figure.

Usually a higher noseweight will result in a better / more stable tow. But with something that only weighs 500kg then it wont make a huge difference.

Mk1 Octavia noseweight limit is 60kg. I know I have one, bit of a pain with my caravan.
