I have the Passat Estate 140CR with the DSG. Previously had the same car and engine but manual. Both very good tow cars, but the DSG is superb when towing and takes the crown in my opinion. I generally feel less tired when arriving, and twisty up/down devon lanes are now a breeze. As per previous poster, I also have the flappy paddles on the steering wheel - these are useful on the rare occasion that the box gets a little confused - very rare though.
Only downside is that it can be a little trickier initially when maneuvering in tight spaces - as its a automated manual it doesnt automatically creep like a traditional automatic, and you can feel the clutch come in and out when letting off the brake and going back on it - not a problem, but takes a bit of getting used to when converting yourself from a manual where bringing the left foot up almost immediately starts moving the outfit and as slowly as you like - the DSG is a little more on or off, but controllable with very gentle brake action.
Cheers
Rob
