We have just returned from a drive on the A90 towards Perth.(dual carraigeway)
We were coming up on a caravan and moved out to overtake as he was doing around 40mph, I noticed the caravan was very high at the back and on passing the caravan was way down on the nose and equally the rear of the Kia 4x4 was way down on the rear.
Probably why he was only doing 40, obviously very inexperienced and a possible danger to others, the worst I have ever seem.
We had barely gone a couple of miles and came across something I have never seen before, another Kia 4x4 pulling a twin axle caravan which was so far nose down that the rear axles were almost off the ground..and again the rear of the Kia was way down.. unbelievable.
Not sure if they were related and possibly sharing a brain and left it at home when packing the van/car
I have honestly never seen such a bad and dangerous setup, it had to be seen to be believed. Rant over!
Hopefully the police stop then both before they get much further. I actually called it in but all depends how busy traffic police are..depleted resources etc..
P.S. - This is not a 4x4 rant it could easily have been any vehicle , it just happened to be 4x4's.

To be honest it was so bad a non caravannner would look at it and say it didn't even look right let alone safe.
As you say they were going slowly which I recon would be due to the way the oufit was handling when going above 40.

You'll be surprised how many people don't weigh their nose before setting off. Of course on this occasion it sounds like you weren't talking about 5-10 kilos out. Shame your you couldn't have got a photo.
I recKon they were probably travellers, oh no wait a minute they wouldn't drive anything as small as a Kia.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
It's that time of year isn't it. Once a year towers and newbies who haven't taken care to look into towing.
Since school finished at the end of June we have been on the M74/M6 ... M90/A90 etc etc and seen lots of outfits with no mirrors, nose up, nose down and one particularly scary Swift Challenger which was literally all over the road every time something (even just solo cars) overtook it. Hitting the M8/M77/A77 on Saturday so plenty more to be seen!
Mind you we've seen plenty of scary solo drivers too!

I once watched someone arrive on a campsite, and when they unhitched the caravan the nose immediately jumped in the air and the back of the caravan sat firmly on the ground. They had to lean hard on the hitch to get it level again so they could move it.
Wasn't there another thread on here recently which talked about a towbar fitted to Kia being too low or something? It could be a problem unique to Kias although the owners must be aware if it is that noticeable.
I thought the same Bob, I know you can get a plate to change the height but both the ones I saw today were scary! To get that low in both car and caravan must have had some heavy weight in the boot and to much noseweight on the van to the extreme.
Unless the weight in the car was pulling the van down..who know's..
It was weird they were on the same road and not much distance between them and both vehicles were the same model and silver in colour??

As a professional driver I see this just about every day or caravans coming screaming past in the outside lane. Also seen many an accident involving caravans, I often wonder if it should not be made compulsory for a separate caravan towing test to be introduced.

Would it make any difference? Everybody passes a test to drive a car, but you still see plenty of stupid drivers on the road.
I wish the Police and VOSA would start doing more road side checks during the Holiday Period , its unbelievable some of the outfits you see on the roads .
Anyone with an illegal or overloaded outfits should be fined and points on there licence
I have a 63 plate Kia Sportage and have recently posted about the same problem. My nose weight is exactly right at 75 kg, but the back of the car sags significantly when hitched to the caravan. The company who fitted my towbar told me they had had loads of sportage owners complaining.Kia say they are unaware of a problem, my Kia dealer said I should fit spring assistors, which I have done. This seems to have solved the problem but gives a more "bumpy "ride.

Far quicker to upgrade the rear springs, to heavy duty ones if you intend to keep the vehicle for a while, or ask the dealer to do it for you, they could get them far cheaper than you could
