The problem is that back in the old days they didnt really have legal limits for towing.
If the car could pull it safely you were OK.
Now cars have max limits so you must abide by the latest laws/rules.
You dont mention the exact model, spec, year and engine output but it maybe a max of 500kg braked.
Things have changed since then also. Pottering along the motorway at 30mph wouldnt be an issue with the little traffic around.
But today your likely to get a few hand gestures.
