I have just been on to TOMTOM about there LIVE updates for the 1005 model, as mine ran out. on my satnav it tells me I can update the LIVE services for EUR49.95 all well and good, when I go to there website this tells me it will cost £47.50 IF you convert the EUR49.95 to £ss you get (at this time) £39.6059 GBP I find it odd that my satnav tells me one thing the Tom Tom website tells me another and a currency converter gives me a third price. I was told by Tom Tom to ignore the price on the satnav as its different for different country's but surely EUR's converted to any currency would be the equivalent of 49.95 or am I missing the point.
I received this reply from Tom Tom.....
For each country, the price of the services depends upon the services cost involved and the coverage and many other factors, Hence it will not be possible for us to set the same price for services in all the areas or countries. My question then must be why is it advertised on my satnav at EUR 49.95. If it was a shop I would expect to pay the price on the item and not to be told to ignore that price.
Any help or advice with this one please.
its stayed the same, with all the updates they send, you would have thought that would be one of the first thing they did to stop confusion. the sat nav still asks me if I want to update the live services for EUR 49.95?
This why I changed to a Garmin with free life time map up dates, got fed up with paying TomTom fees every year.I think its rip off they seem to set the cost as high as the customers will pay and it bears no relation to the actual cost of producing the download.
Same here
Changed to Garmin
Free updates and free live traffic
I only changed because my tomtom broke within the first 12 months and when I took it back wanted a like for like swap they didn't makde that model anymore and was told if I wanted one with the same features I would have to pay the difference in price ?? £100.
So I had the Garmin instead at an extra £40 but with free updates.
The tomtom was going to cost £50 a year to update anyway.
