I have a twin axle Swift Conjurer 645 and am considering buying a 2012 Jaguar XF 2.2 as a Tow-car, have any members of the forum already have a Jag XF and can give me feedback/comments/thoughts?

Find your caravans maximum loaded weight (MTPLM) and your Jag XF kerbweight which should ideally be 15% heavier for a good towing match
Whilst 85% is not a rule I would say that would be a pretty heavy van for an XF which is probably a similar kerbweight to that? Probably close to the XF's manufacturers towing limit as well
The XF only has a 75kg noseweight aswell on all models so something else you would have to consider
They are lovely cars to drive but would only consider for much lighter vans than that IMO
Thanks for the responses. You hit it right on the nose (excuse the pun) I have been trying to establish the 'nose weight', at 75kg I think I will have to re-think, I had a look at the Caravan Clubs 'Outfit Matching' service and whilst they advised that the kerbweight was close but in limit they did advise to check the nose weight as they had no details on it.Shame I really like the car it has good economy, good road tax and excellent reviews.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Thanks for that Frank - Is the max hitch load on the 2.2 Sport Brake more than 75 kg? What is the nose weight on the Bailey Moselle caravan when its loaded?
The hitch weight is 75kg which seems pretty standard for most cars around that size. The noseweight of your van when loaded will depend on what you put in the front locker and how you load the rest of the van! The best way is to load and measure it. If I am brutally honest I have never measured the noseweight of a van in 25 years of towing (naughty I know!) and not had a problem. I generally carry 1 gas bottle and the aquaroll in the front and other light weight stuff
Thanks for all your input. It looks like I have a result, go for the 3.0d V6 Model as this is a bit heavier. I checked the 'Nose Weight' on my caravan today and fully loaded it shows 70KG on the nose weight gauge, 5kg inside the limit which is great. So look out Jag here I come!
Have you looked at the A6 Allroad. A heavier car and nose weight of 85kg. Gets good tow reviews.

Thanks for the input Michael. Yes I have looked at the A6 which is a real quality car with a great towing pedigree, however it just does not have the style and feeling of the Jaguar and if that was the choice I would rather stick with the four wheel drive that I currently tow with which likewise has a great tow car pedigree. I want something that I am going to enjoy more when I am not towing.
